Kathleen Garvey Spagnola is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. She creates and installs landscape designs for both residential and commercial properties throughout Pennsylvania.  Kathleen has certification in Horticultural science, methods and design from the Barnes Foundation’s Arboretum Program. She has received special recognition for achievement in Landscape Design from the Foundation.

 

A regular participant of Perennial Plant conferences in the region and symposia throughout the United States and Great Britain, her design sensibility stays current through an active exploration of historical and contemporary gardens throughout various parts of the world. Her travels include gardens from the medieval garden of Villa d'este, Tivoli Italy to contemporary gardens like Great Dixter House and Garden, England.

 

Kathy has been a member of Barnes Alumni Council; she supports the Barnes Arboretum School and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. She has acted as a design class chair at the Flower Show and a judge for both the PHS city and community gardens contests. She served on the Garden Design and History committee for The Garden Club of America; she has successfully documented a local garden for submission to the Smithsonian’s archives.

 

Kathleen, along with her three daughters, have been residents of Bryn Mawr for the last 25 years; becoming integral parts of Main Line’s rich history, beautiful architecture, and landscape.
